Sprint planning & milestone management with Assembla real-time tickets list is another top improvement area requested by our customers. The latest update for Assembla brings improvements for the tickets list, sprint planning features, tickets groups management, as well as new pagination and querying flow together with minor UI & UX improvements.
With the new functionality users can create, edit and manage sprints in-place on the ticket list. The group header was improved and now it is showing additional information like start & due dates, open & completed tickets counters and estimation points sum, which project managers should find useful.
Along with the in-place editing features, users can now choose what groups should be visible together with the sorting options, irrespective of set ticket filters. This allows more flexibility in creating advanced ticket views which again, should make life easier and improve not only the sprint planning flow with Assembla, especially for projects with big amounts of tickets.
The new flow allows users to create very long ticket reports (previously paginated) and simply download it in chosen file format using the export widget.
We also made some usability updates around tickets filters and sidebars for both “Tickets List” and “Cardwall” views.
Create and edit milestones on the tickets list
To create and edit your sprints in-place simply group your tickets by Milestone using filters or saved views option:
Next click the new group [ : ] options button and select the action you want. New functionality allows you to create, edit, delete, set milestones as “Current” or “Closed” and hide the group from the view. “Hide” works for all groups, not only milestones.
In-place Milestone edit
Now you can edit & create milestones in place on the tickets list. Use a new in-line form to set the name, start & end dates and simply submit your changes.
Enable new groups & sorting capabilities
Along with the in-place editing features, users can now choose what groups should be visible together with the sorting options, irrespective of set ticket filters. To enable this feature go to your “Profile” > “Feature Tests” tab or click the link in ticket list filters sidebar:
You can disable this feature in any moment in the same way.
Select groups to show and its sorting options
Enabling feature adds new options to the “Sort” tab, now called “Groups & Sorting”. Completely irrespective of set ticket filters you can now select what groups should be visible and what sorting order should be applied. Of course you can save all these settings in the same way as all other options.
New querying flow without pagination
With feature enabled the tickets query flow have been changed and now shows the results without pagination. Instead each of the groups is limited to the value set in “Settings” > “Tickets Lst” > “Number of tickets per group” section.
Instead the pagination if the ticket amount exceeds the limit, more tickets may be loaded using “Load more” option on the bottom of each group.
We also made some usability updates around tickets filters and sidebars for both “Tickets List” and “Cardwall” views.
You can find more information about this functionality in our Help Center Documentation.
